Joyce
has lived in Livingston County all her life, graduating from Chillicothe
High School. Joyce received her Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration from Missouri Western State College in St.
Joseph, Missouri.
After graduation, she worked in industry for 14
1/2 years before deciding to teach business, receiving her Masters
in Vocational Business Education from Northwest Missouri State
University.
The
Vocational Resource Educator is assigned to assist students
enrolled in the Grand River Technical School technical programs
with special vocational and academic needs. The VRE is the link
between the student, instructor, and the sending high school in
meeting special needs of students and ensuring accommodations
identified in the student’s IEP or 504 plan are made available.
Specific
Duties include:
- Provide
GRTS students with academic support relative to vocational
courses.
- Member
of the GRTS Care Team
- Serve
as resource between technical teacher, sending school
administration, parent, and student.
- Attend
IEP and 504 meetings of GRTS students.
- Serve
as member of GRTS Pre-Employment Preparation Committee.
- Assist
with presentations, recruitment activities, and enrollment of
GRTS students.
- Monitor
GRTS student progress of special needs students and
communicate students’ progress to parents and sending school
administrators.
- Assist
GRTS students with career development including placement of
graduates.
- Compile
data/accountability information required for Perkins Act.
- Compile
data required by Core Data.
- Coordinate
the GRTS student management system.
