
Chillicothe R-II Classes will be dismissed early for Homecoming on Friday, September 16th for Homecoming! Here's a list of other planned early dismissals this school year:


Homecoming is this Friday vs. Cameron. Please take advantage of the tailgate special at the stadium before the game if you do not already have meal plans before the game on Friday! We also have spots for sale still on the east side lot at the stadium for the entire rest of the season and potential home playoff games.


Homecoming is next week! If you are in need of a dress, shoes or accessories, please contact Mrs. Rachael Wheeler at Chillicothe High School to set up a visit to the Key Club Cinderella closet! We have gorgeous dresses for all shapes and sizes!

Congratulations to Mayli Albaugh, Terrance Anderson, and Kayla Martin, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past few days. They were identified as doing the following -
Mayli Albaugh - Mayli picked up lots of trash at the stadium before band first hour from the game the night before.
Kayla Martin - Kayla always stays after class and straightens the chairs. She's incredibly kind and thoughtful!
Terrance Anderson - Terrance was working the middle school football concession stand when a football player from Cameron left his wallet on the counter. Terrance remembered what the player looked like and found the player on the sidelines and returned the wallet to the player.
A big thank you to all students who continue to show good character.

Congratulations to Cutter Parkes, Emerson Staton, Remington Isaacs, James Panholzer, Michael Weese, Hailie Gault, and Kathryn Muñoz, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past first week of school. They were identified as doing the following -
Cutter Parkes - Cutter held the door open for several people this morning as students entered for the school day.
Emerson Staton - Another student spilled some water in class and she jumped quickly to help clean up the mess!
Remington Isaacs - After the freshman class meeting, several students left their trash from the assignment organizer on the floor and he was quick to pick it up.
James Panholzer - A student had forgotten money on their desk, and James turned it in.
Michael Weese, Halie Gault & Kathryn Muñoz - These three students stayed after school and picked up all the trash in the bleachers after the pep rally without anyone asking them to!

Varsity football parking space spots near the turf playing surface on the east side of the stadium are still available for sale at the high school office. The parking space tag will work for all home games, including any possible playoff home games. To purchase one of these spots, you may call 660-646-0700. These spaces will also be available to purchase at the gate leading down to the field and the east side lot before tonight's varsity home game vs. Marshall at 7:00 pm. Come out and support the Chillicothe Hornets this evening.

The tradition continues, senior sunrise on the first day of school for the Class of 2023 at Chillicothe High School. Hornets on Top!


CHS reminder, tomorrow 8-23-2022 is the first day of school with classes beginning at 7:55 a.m.
Tomorrow night is fall sports Meet the Hornets starting at 5:30 p.m. with Chillicothe Booster Club grilling hot dogs and chips, free for fall athletes, coaches, and Booster Club members, and free-will donation for all others. Fall sports athletes will be introduced in the CHS gym at 7:00 p.m. The football parking space auction will be at 7:45 p.m. on the stadium's east side parking lot next to the turf.

Girls Golf at Green Hills Golf Course at 9:00 am
Girls Tennis at Danner Park at 12:00 am midnight
Cross Country at Danner Park at 12:00 am midnight for their annual midnight run to start the season.


It is hard to believe that the 2022-2023 school year is already upon us. Chillicothe High School online registrations will open on Friday, August 5 and are due to be filled out online before students register in-person. Chillicothe High School Choir Camp Information:
We plan to do the workshop Saturday morning, August 6th from 9-10:30 am in the choir room. Come to the PAC doors for admittance. If we have a lot of participation and are having fun we may go a bit longer. Please wear workout clothes and athletic shoes. A hornets shirt would be perfect! Spread the word! Hope to see you there!

CHS Choir "Choreography Day Camp" Opportunity
When: Saturday, August 6th
A "choreography introduction" for choir students is being offered by a professional choreographer - Lovar Davis Kidd on Saturday, August 6th. L.D. is an adjunct dance teacher at the University of Iowa with a long resume of show choir choreography and professional musical theatre performance. He will be in Missouri the first week of August and has offered this "Choreography Day Camp" as an introduction to top-notch show choir dancing. The camp is open to 8th grade through 12th grade choir students. Please contact Mrs. Phillips at mphillips@chillicotheschools.org for more information and let her know if you can make it.

Nine CHS FCCLA member attended the 2022 National Leadership Conference & STAR Events competition in San Diego, CA JULY 28-July 4. Gena Schuler & Ethan Elliott competed in Level 3 Sustainability Challenge, received a gold medal and were recognized for being in the top 10 for their event. Rylee Washburn & Kamryn Stephens competed in level 2 Chapter in Review Display, received 2nd place and a silver medal. Emma Crowe competed in level 3 Early Childhood Professions and received a bronze medal. Morgan Kincade attended state officer training and Anderson De Jesus, Lainey Thompson, & Miranda Calvin assisted with STAR Events judging during the conference.



Wow! Logos will be installed this week on the new turf project at Chillicothe High School.




Summer body conditioning workouts for all Chillicothe High School athletes begin today and will run through July 19 every Monday through Thursday each week, 4 sessions each day from 6-7:30 am, 7:30-9 am football only, 9-10:30 am, and 10:30-12:00 pm. Every athlete has the opportunity to get better by taking advantage of these workouts. Athletes are strongly encouraged to attend consistently each day throughout the summer. The Chillicothe High School MSHSAA Summer Dead Period runs from July 2-10, no activities will take place during that time period.
