Building Trades is a program that is open to all high school graduates or equivalent or to juniors and seniors of our sending schools. Those who are juniors and seniors will attend class three hours daily for two years to receive a full certificate. Post-High students will attend six and three-quarter hours per day for nine months to complete the program's 1080 hours of instruction.

A career in Building Trades can open the doors to many different career opportunities in the construction field.  From building homes, roofing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, cabinet making, and the building of highways and bridges, this pathway can open the door to endless career options.

With an emphasis on carpentry, the program prepares you for your career through a blend of classroom theory and hands-on experience.  You will become adept at using hand tools, portable power tools, and other equipment common in the carpentry profession, as well as working with lumber, panel products, roofing materials, fasteners, and a variety of hardware.  You will develop skills needed for rough framing, roof framing, and exterior and interior finish work.  In addition, you will also learn to study and read blueprints, as well as math and estimating projects.

Students gain hands-on experience building a residential house every year they are in the program. The typical appraised value of homes built in this program range from $250,000-400,000.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports that as of May 2020 the nation’s median wage for a skilled Carpenter was $49,520.
